Going Old School in an AI World
My oldest kiddo told me the wildest story about a lady who morphed into a lion. When I asked where he heard that, his answer was a familiar one: "I saw it on a YouTube video!" (Obviously true, right?!)

Have you noticed that when you scroll social lately, you find yourself more and more critical of what you're reading/watching/hearing?
"Was this caption written with AI?"
"Is this image something ChatGPT spit out?"
"Is this video even REAL?"
Me too.
To be clear, I have nothing against AI! I use it every day, multiple times a day. (Yes, even to identify random birds in my yard. When did that become interesting to me?!)
There's a huge difference between using AI as a tool and using AI as a substitute for your voice. (Pssst... we can tell...)
When content is generated without much intention behind it, readers feel it. The result is often content that says all the right things... while also saying nothing memorable at all. It's a whole lot of FLUFF.

Something else I'm noticing? The more AI-generated content floods the internet, the more valuable authentic human connection becomes.
Soooo... if everyone is racing to create more content faster, what if the opportunity is actually to slow down and focus on the places where connection is still the top priority?
For me, a few platforms immediately come to mind: Email, Pinterest, Threads/X, and IG or TikTok stories.
Pinterest, in particular, feels like it's having a moment. (again.)
People don't typically open Pinterest because they want to doom scroll. They open it because they're planning something, looking for ideas, solving problems, collecting inspiration, and imagining what comes next.
That's a very different mindset than swiping TikTok aimlessly.
The same thing is true with email.
When someone joins your email list, they're making a choice to hear more from you. They're inviting you into their inbox, which remains one of the few places online where an algorithm isn't deciding whether your audience gets to hear from you.
And since you're over there shaking your head YES to email marketing being an area of opportunity right now, let's take a very quick action step to pack more punch in your email marketing strategy this week.
Let's revisit the question:
What happens after someone joins your email list?
Your welcome sequence is often the very first real interaction someone has with you after deciding they want to hear from you. It's your first conversation, your first impression, and your chance to help someone understand who you are, what you do, and why they should stick around.
When was the last time you updated your welcome sequence? (If you said 2021, SAME.)
I bet since the last time you gave your welcome sequence a makeover, your business has evolved, YOU have evolved, and you could make it a little more personal and intentional.
And this is where I think AI can actually be VERY useful.
(Not for writing generic emails that sound like everyone else's... ew.)
AI can help you clarify your message, organize your thoughts, identify gaps in your sequence, and brainstorm ideas that strengthen the connection you're trying to build. The key is that YOU are still the one driving the conversation.
Need help? That's exactly why I created the Welcome Sequence Makeover. (A set of templates to pop into ChatGPT and get high-converting emails that sound like you! You can give your welcome sequence an extra spark in as little as an hour!!)
It's designed to help you create a welcome sequence that's intentional, engaging, and built to turn new subscribers into loyal readers and customers (without spending weeks staring at a blank screen).
Inside, you'll get:
• A Welcome Sequence Funnel Map that visually lays out your entire funnel
• A Mini-Masterclass walking you through exactly how to set everything up
• Ready-to-customize email templates that save you hours of writing
• AI prompts designed specifically to help you refine your messaging and generate ideas that fit your products and audience
The entire goal is to help you get your welcome sequence done in about an hour rather than letting it sit on your to-do list for another six months.
And the results have been pretty cool to hear:
"This is truly the secret ingredient I needed!" — Katie
"I've finally got these funnels under control, so I can focus on building products!" — Sarah

Businesses that actually do well over the next few years won't be the ones cranking out the same crappy content as everyone else.
They'll be the ones building genuine relationships, creating trust, and making people feel like there's a real human on the other side of the screen.
